uganda [part 1]

a few pages from my travel journal:

at 6pm on tuesday, things got a little bit crazy...

here is the super short version-

got a call, packed my bags, hopped on a flight.
currently in east hampton w/ my family.
but in 4 days....
i'm going on the road w/ invisible children [!!!].
i'll be joining the new england team.
touring DC & NYC for the month of april.
back to san diego til may 13th.
home til may 28th.
in lindsay's wedding on june 4th.
driving X-country w/ brandon palma to san diego [!!!] on june 5th.
spending summer in san diego as the movement intern.

it happened very fast, as per usual.
sooooo stoked.

i am still learning. just from the road.
Lord help.

IC legacy tour: face to face.

the world is my community.

last night we partnered w/ Invisible Children and did a screening of "For Tomorrow" [the TOMS Shoes story], and "The Rescue" [the new IC film]. it was AWESOME. a really great crowd came out, James, a student from Uganda spoke, and we talked about our upcoming events.

before the TOMS film i did a brief intro. goofy, enthusiastic, intense, eager... i was me. and i think that's ok. i think it's ok for my personality and character to be presented in those situations if i want to be personal and approachable and genuine.

i believe in the TOMS mission.
i believe in a One for One business model.
and i believe we should help because we can.

the IC film followed. powerful. passionate. spirited. stirring.
post-screening ultimatehangout2k9 w/ the IC ladies and the IC roadies [gabe, clara, jenna, and zack]. good bunch.

we are quickly approaching our SYS event.
ahhhhh I AM SO EXCITED! next thursday!
still so much to do!

posted as my status today: angela is listening to christmas music. current favorite: 'little saint nick' by the beach boys.. pffft. let me grab those.

just had a social justice tea party on my bed w/ 3 wonderful ladies (kelly pastori, kaitlyn suveg, & amy derringer). we talked TOMS, invisible children, twloha, past and upcoming events, how to get T-Pain to 'rescue' us (preferably on a boat), rummage sales, and so on. i gave amy nearly $200 worth of clothing to sell at the invisible children rummage sale this thursday. huge weight lifted. like, i-can-breathe-easier-huge.

trust in providence. first.
